St.Patricks Day at Isaacs hostel

 Just asked the crew at Isaacs hostel what’s occurring this month in Dublin and here are their top 3  things to do in Dublin in March;

1.St. Patrick’s Festival,  Dublin  15-19th March 2018

St.Patricks Day at Isaacs hostelSimply one of the biggest parties on earth. Dublin goes green and is a truly multicultural city for the  five mad days of the Dublin St. Patricks  festival aka Paddy’s Day, Paddys or Patties (by our American Friends bizarrely) It kicks off with a massive parade on Saturday 17th March at 11am.

It’s a massive event, a huge party taking place on the streets of Dublin with more than 4000 performers involved and an audience that will top 1 million people over six days. Usually there will be groups taking part not just from Ireland, but from elsewhere in Europe and from India, Africa and the USA. It is a truly multicultural event. Expect huge costumed characters, colourful costumes and lots of theatre. The programme includes the annual parade, family carnivals, comedy, dance, fun fairs, treasure hunts, street performers, many musical events. Read more here

The party starts in Isaacs Hostel the night before Paddy’s.  There will be Guinness, homemade brown bread, leprechaun hunting and Fancy Dress. There will also be Free face painting on St. Patricks  Day between 9am and 11am if you instagram your Pic

film festival Dublin2.March Movie Madness

Although Spring days abound, March can still be cold and wet ( well it is Ireland !) and an excursion to the movies can be a great respite if the rain kicks in.The AUDI Dublin film festival  ( DIFF) is in full swing and culminates on Sunday 3rd March with some critically acclaimed films on offer- it’s worth a look.

Not only this but Oscar season  is in full swing so there tend to be the best movies of the year showing at this time in Cinemas across Dublin .Our favourite Cinema is the Lighthouse in Smithfield where you can enjoy your movie in a cool space  with big  comfy chairs and snacks : win , olives and other posh goodies if it pleases you . Never fear however they still serve good old fashioned Popcorn!

Isaacs Dublin - Top 3 things to do Dublin In March3.Daffodils and the Great Outdoors Dublin

March brings lighter nights and daffodils are everywhere. We suggest getting yourself to one of the many Dublin City parks for a breath of fresh air and a stroll amongst the daffodils. Try St. Stephen’s Green, Iveagh  Gardens, Merrion Square and of  course Phoenix Park for an uplifting dash of Daffs

Phoenix park is the latest City park in Europe and a hub of activity with joggers cyclists and skate boarders. You can get a great coffee and cake in the visitor centre , plus to visit there are  Dublin  Zoo and the Áras an Uachtaráin (The Presidents house) which you can actually visit for FREE on Saturday with private tours . This is first come first come served

Hope this gives you an idea if not check out VisitDublin .com  for all the events
