Free Hostel Walking Tour
We recommend that you start your stay at Isaacs hostel with a FREE Hostels walking tour. This leaves Isaacs daily at 10. 25am and starts at the Central Bank on Dame Street and covers Trinity College, Dublin Castle and then into Temple Bar for a refreshment stop. This takes about 2 half hours and is a great way to get your bearings around Dublin with other Hosteller. This is Dublin for free at it’s very best!
National Museums and Galleries
All museums owned by the Irish government are completely free to enter. The Irish are very proud of their learned scholars and writers and encourage everyone to absorb some of this from the national museums. The National Museum of Ireland is spread out over 3 sites in the city. Archaeology in Kildare Street, Natural History in Merrion Street, and Decorative Arts & History in Collins Barracks. There is also the National Gallery on Merrion Square and the Museum of Modern Art at Kilmainham for Art lovers
Alfred Chester Beatty was a mining magnate and millionaire from the early 20th century. Often called the ‘King of Copper’, he was ordained as Ireland’s first honorary citizen. During his life, he amassed many ancient texts and arts that he left to the people of Dublin when he died. As per the man’s instructions, this superb library and museum is always free to people wanting to visit. The surrounding gardens are a lovely place to picnic on a nice day
Ãras an Uachtaráin
The official residence of the Irish President. Ãras an Uachtaráin or The President’s House is a grand stately home located in Phoenix Park. A great deer park, and the second largest urban park after Central Park in New York. The house hosts free tours on a Saturday where visitors can learn about the history of the house and all of its inhabitants over the years.
Grafton Street is the main thoroughfare to St. Stephen’s green. It is one of the best shopping streets in Dublin but also has things to see for no money at all ! All along the street are performers and acts, jugglers, living statues, musicians, and anything else you could imagine.
Go Sightseeing
Dublin city is an amazing place. It has a huge mixture of old buildings and modern architecture, parks, art, the River Liffey, Canals, a stunning coast line and a hell of a lot of history. You can spend an entire day and more just wandering the streets. You’ll probably never see every statue or building. Check out Trinity College, O’Connell Bridge, Temple Bar, and the historic core.
